“vegetarian” girl says she’s going vegan because she loves animals, next day she take it bck because she likes chocolate, but no really, she just can’t cook and doesn’t really care about animals.

In the meantime, other friends are constantly complaining how their lives suck and “waiting around” for it to be awesome without actually doing anything

While another hates their weight and wants to be healthy yet posts status’s such as the ones pictured

“We refute religion not just for our sake, but for yours” I’m sorry if you don’t see how this is offensive. To have someone actively attacking your beliefs in the name of ‘helping you’ is offensive, especially since the last time I checked my beliefs not only have nothing to do with you, they also cause me absolutely no harm. I’m choosing to believe that you meant to imply that atheists are doing this to be kind. If you do this then that’s great, but most atheists I have met are downright vindictive about refuting religion. And actually, I won’t find that most of the time it’s religious people trying to sway people. Most of the time, in my experience, that religion comes up, it is someone who does not practice religion making a comment about how “stupid” someone is for believing in any religion.

But even beyond that, I am not speaking about the typical atheist. I am speaking about people who cannot let it go. There are people who I no longer speak to because EVERY conversation we have is them trying to “prove” to me that my belief in God is ridiculous and unfounded. I was saying that when it gets to the point that you spend more time trying to prove to religious people that their religion is not real than those people spend actively worshiping then that religion rules your life.

I don’t condone atheists being jerks about it. I do condone the use of facts and logic and politeness.

You may not come across many religious people who do this, because you sound like you might be religious yourself, this happens to people who aren’t religious and a heck of a lot more than atheists bashing on religion, although that’s slowly shifting, with the aid of the internet.

Many atheists spend time on this because religious people are pretty vocal about things, you will find the majority o the time it will be religious people trying to sway us to their ways, most atheists don’t do this, we refute religion not just for our our sake but for yours.

Imagine….someone who doesn’t believe the same things you do, you feel you know better and you want to share this so that other people can experience the same feelings/experiences you have. Atheists do that too, the exact same thing!

A friend of mine posted a letter sent by her atheist brother. I have faith, so I don’t applaud it but I respect it. And I’m sure anyone out there who fears a loved one is wrong about any serious matter can imagine how distressing a refusal for help can be.

Then there is this one comment, “As for his letter, well, the Bible warns us that not everyone is numbered among the elect.” ….That steams me. That straight up pisses me off. Because the way I see it this guy is basically saying, “Too bad your brother is probably going to hell” and how the hell would he know? I also left a comment, which I probably shouldn’t have. But that was an hour ago and I’m still nice and toasted about it. I think I have identified my all time biggest and most violent pet peeve with religious people; having the arrogance to assume they know the fate of a person’s soul. And make no mistake, I am a religious people.

It has to do with some pretty basic logic (and what’s clearly stated in the bible). A person can pass judgment on another person’s actions. Legally we can take eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, and life for life. Only God can pass judgment on a person’s soul. Only God can see what’s going on inside someone’s heart and mind; he’s the only one who gets to say what a person deserves/gets after leaving this earth. So please, if you’re not God, STFU.

I’m an atheist myself, and I like your commentary. Thank you. :)
